Champion for victims Newlove dies at 63

BARONESS Helen Newlove, the victims’ commissioner for England and Wales, who began campaigning in the wake of her husband's murder, has died aged 63.

Tributes have been paid to the Tory peer who was described as a “brave and wonderful soul”.

She died after a short illness, her office said yesterday.

Baroness Newlove twice served in the post after becoming a campaigner in the wake of the killing of her husband Garry outside their Warrington home when he confronted vandals in 2007.
