Celtic hero Petrov's son going to stand as Reform party councillor
Scottish Daily Express
|April 12, 2025
THE son of a Celtic legend has announced that he’s standing as a candidate for Reform UK.
Stiliyan Petrov Jr said he would be a voice for Britain's working class and youth if elected in May's local elections in England.
He hopes to represent Nigel Farage’s party in Lapworth and West Kenilworth in Warwickshire.
However, the move has infuriated some Celtic fans and even made the front page of newspaper, The National.
The Bulgarian ace won four Scottish league titles during a trophy-laden seven-year stint at Celtic Park, before moving to Aston Villa.
In 2012, Petrov was diagnosed with acute leukaemia at the age of 32 and retired from playing to fight the disease.
