Scots student among five killed
THE heartbroken family of a young Scottish woman who was one of five people killed in a horror crash in Ireland has said they have been “broken” by her death.
Chloe Hipson died on Saturday evening when the car she and the four other victims were travelling in collided with another vehicle.
A sixth passenger survived and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Ms Hipson, from Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 21-year-old had moved to Ireland where she was a second-year student studying to become a quantity surveyor.
The crash happened in Gibstown, County Louth, at around 9pm after the six friends had been out for dinner.
They then decided to continue their night out by driving around five miles into Dundalk when tragedy struck.
The Volkswagen Golf which they were travelling in collided with a Toyota Land Cruiser.
The other victims were: Chloe McGee, 23, Shay Duffy, 21, Alan McCluskey, 23, and Dylan Commins, 23, all of whom were Irish nationals.
The sixth person, who is also aged in his twenties, is said to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.
