CARLOS ALCARAZ has hit back at criticism of players taking part in exhibition tournaments as the lucrative Six Kings Slam got under way in Saudi Arabia yesterday.

Alcaraz, left, is the top seed at this week's tournament, which has also tempted Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Stefanos Tsitsipas to head to the Middle East. The world No.1 was among those voicing criticism of the demanding tour schedule in Asia and said he would consider skipping mandatory events to prioritise his health.
