Airport hold-ups 'will be even longer this summer'

HOLIDAYMAKERS face even longer hold-ups at airports than they did last year because of flight delays in Europe, senior aviation bosses warn.

Eurocontrol, which oversees airspace on the continent, blamed an increase in flights in an already "highly saturated network".

It warned travellers they could be harder hit than in 2024 - which saw the worst delays in more than 20 years.

This summer the number of flights is forecast to rise by 5.2%, Eurocontrol says.

Between June and August air traffic was up by 4.7% but delays increased by 47%.
