Escaped Harris hawk is preying on 'tall men' in village

IT sounds like a tall story - but villagers are living in fear of a bird of prey which seems to target men of above average height.

The hostile Harris hawk has been swooping on dozens of residents in Flamstead, Herts, leaving several victims bloodied.

Roy Lambden was putting his rubbish bins out when he was attacked.

The 68-year-old said that he was "left bleeding" and suffered "scratches" to the back of his head after the angry bird swooped down and whacked him.

He said: "I had no idea what had hit me, it was a total surprise.
