2,000-year-old tattoos found on ice mummy

ELABORATE tattoos featuring tigers, birds and fantastical beasts have been revealed in all their glory on the mummified body of a woman who lived 2,000 years ago.

And scientists — who for the first time used cutting-edge technology to examine the designs - say they are so intricate and detailed, modern-day inkers would be proud of them.

The woman, from the Pazyryk culture of Siberia, became an “ice mummy” after she was buried in a chamber deep in the permafrost of the Altai Mountains.
