Celebrating excellence at 2025 DHL lifesaving championships

ST BENEDICT’S College Aquatic Centre in Germiston played host to a memorable gathering of lifesaving athletes from across the country, as DHL Lifesaving South Africa hosted the 2025 Pool Inter-Provincial Championships.

With exceptional energy in the air, teams from across South Africa came together not only to compete, but to celebrate the essence of lifesaving: skill, speed, teamwork - and above all, a shared commitment to saving lives.

“Every second counts. It’s a reminder of why we do this. In the critical moments of a rescue, a life is on the line. Accuracy, speed, and confidence in the water are non-negotiable. That’s why championships like this matter. They sharpen the very skills that our lifesavers rely on when called into action at their respective clubs,” said

Annelie Lourens, Chairlady of the Gauteng Provincial Lifesaving Association, in her opening tribute to the competitors, captured the spirit of the day.
