Sebi allows IAs, RAs to use liquid funds for deposit

Markets regulator Sebi has allowed Investment Advisers (IAs) and Research Analysts (RAs) to use liquid mutual funds and overnight funds as an alternative to bank fixed deposits to meet regulatory deposit requirements.

The move aims to address operational challenges in creating lien-marked FDs and promote ease of doing business. IAs and RAs had highlighted inconsistencies in third-party FD handling across bank branches. Sebi approved the proposal, noting that liquid and overnight funds are low-risk and allow lien marking within the securit
