Mayhem put up strong fight in Huskies tie

THE Mayhem sledge team put in a battling performance against defending champions and British Para Ice Hockey League leaders Cardiff Huskies but ultimately lost out 2-6 at Planet Ice Widnes on Saturday.

The game was evenly balanced in its early stages and it took until the 13th minute for the deadlock to be broken. When it finally came, the first goal came from Mayhem's Karl Nicholson - and the score remained 1-0 at the first period break.

Unfortunately, it all went wrong for the Mayhem in the second period. Cardiff equalised on 20 minutes and then a powerplay goal on a hooking penalty and a delayed penalty goal on a holding call saw them open up a two goal lead.
