MP hails government’s new dentistry reforms
Rochdale Observer
|December 20, 2025
ELSIE Blundell, Labour's MP for Heywood and Middleton North, has welcomed major new reforms to NHS dentistry that will make it easier for patients to get long-term treatment and urgent dental care through the NHS.
She said: “Since being elected I have been stunned to hear story after story about how broken our dental system has become under the Tories.
“Both dentists and patients have complained about the uncaring incompetence of the last government, which is most on display in dentistry. It is taking decisive action from the current Labour Government to fix,”
‘The reforms will prioritise patients with the most urgent and complex needs, expand access to urgent NHS dental appointments, and ensure dentists are fairly supported and incentivised to deliver longer-term treatment for conditions such as gum disease and tooth decay.
