'Climate hoax' is 'Bert's opinion' and cabinet will be discussing it

County Council may not end up adopting the policy that man-made climate change is a “hoax” - despite that being the view of a leading cabinet member.

Reform UK’s Bert Bingham, who has just been given responsibility for transport and the environment at the council, said during the election campaign: “I do not support the man-made global climate change hoax underpinning ‘net zero’ based on scientific facts.” But Mick Barton, the new Nottinghamshire County Council leader, says Councillor Bingham’s view is just one person's opinion.

Actions taken by Nottinghamshire County Council in recent years have included setting a target for all its vehicle fleet to be electric by 2030 and producing a greenhouse gas emissions report every 12 months.
