Why crime will never be arrested in SA

THERE is a painful truth that South Africans know deep in their bones but few dare to speak: crime in this country will never be arrested, because too many of the criminals walk the corridors of power, not the halls of justice.
The tragedy of our post-apartheid democracy is that it was built on a rotten foundation, laid by men who claimed to be liberators while looting and eliminating rivals under the guise of revolution.
Many of those hailed as heroes of the Struggle were not above murder, extortion or criminality. Some used the Struggle as a shield to protect their own sins, and when apartheid fell, they stepped into suits and took over the state — bringing the gang code into government.
We never cleansed the system. We glorified thugs and romanticised blood on their hands. Instead of accountability, we offered amnesty. Instead of justice, we chose denial. This historical compromise seeded a culture of impunity that continues to rot every institution from the top down.
Today, that rot is being exposed — not by outsiders, but by insiders who can no longer stomach the stench.
