A commitment to the community

FOR almost a decade, Shridika Devi Davenarian, has remained dedicated to uplifting the lives of others through her community work.

“It gives me immense satisfaction and joy knowing that I can bring a smile to someone's face or ease their burdens.”

Davenarian, 22, of Tongaat, said she started volunteering at 14 years old.

“I was in Grade 8 when I became involved in active community work by being a member of the InterAct Club at Tongaat Secondary School, which was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Umhlanga. My interest was sparked when I saw how the club was actively supporting those in need. I was deeply inspired by their dedication to service and making a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.”

Davenarian, who is also a member of the Rotaract of Tongaat, said over the years she had been involved in many outreach projects.
