What more appropriate day for a concert than November 22, the feast of St Cecilia, patron saint of musicians?

A blustery, unpleasant day, but a warm, inviting venue, the glorious edifice that is St Mary's Church.

A vast space able to accommodate a large, enthusiastic audience and the huge combined musical forces of PCU, Medici Choir and the Southern Pro Musica Orchestra.

The programme was of early 20th century English music by two of the giants - Elgar and Vaughan-Williams - and, in my opinion, the most underrated of their contemporaries, Gerald Finzi.
