We need more cash machines in Paisley... but they must be free

Councillor Eddie Devine, who represents Paisley Southeast, has spoken out against ATM fees as the cost-of-living crisis rumbles on in Renfrewshire and beyond.

The elected member conceded it is an “issue” in his ward and said he would be “delighted” to see more of the dispensers, providing they do not charge for withdrawals.

It comes as Renfrewshire Council granted planning permission, subject to conditions, for the installation of a cashpoint within a shopfront on Neilston Road.

However, it is not known if this one will be free to use.

Councillor Devine told the Express: “It is an issue in my ward, whether it’s checking your balance or withdrawing cash, it can be difficult to find one.
