Plans to expand pharmacy into empty shop are welcomed

Ralston Pharmacy could be set to take on an empty shop next door after its plans were disclosed in a submission to Renfrewshire Council.

HAB Architecture, working on behalf of M&D Green, has outlined the intention to merge two units in Paisley's Penilee Road and install a prescription collection machine.

The proposal formed part of a request for planning permission which the local authority confirmed it has granted, subject to conditions, in early April.

Councillor Graeme Clarke, a Labour representative for Paisley Northeast and Ralston, said: "It's welcome to see the pharmacy extending its premises because that would be a facility of good value to people in the area.

"The one thing we obviously do not want is empty shops so I’m happy to see that it looks like it will be brought into use.”
