Paisley pupils have helped a national charity mark its 25th anniversary by celebrating their work building bridges across their community.

- EDEL KENEALY

Glencoats and St Fergus’ primary schools welcomed anti-bigotry campaigners from Nil by Mouth to their schools as part of the charity's ‘25 Years of Unity’ campaign which highlights people across Scotland who have made a contribution to tackling sectarianism over the last quarter of a century.

Earlier this year, the schools were awarded the Champions for Change award by Nil by Mouth in recognition of several years hard work making pupils better aware of different faiths and cultures, as well as celebrating the strong community spirit in the area.

The award recognises schools, businesses and individuals who have displayed a longstanding commitment to challenging sectarianism in Scotland.

Nil by Mouth partnership manager Emma Alexander said she couldn't think of anyone better to mark the anniversary with.

She said: “Nil by Mouth was set up 25 years ago by a young woman who saw the need to act in order for change to occur.
