Older people being helped back into work

More older people are being supported into employment, new figures from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) reveal.

Statistics for East Renfrewshire show 50 people aged 50 and over were supported into work in July alone. The data comes as new figures suggest an increase in the number of people finding work with the support of their local job centre.
The number of people looking for work in East Renfrewshire in this age category has subsequently fallen by 17 per cent.
A spokesperson for the DWP said: “Yet again, in month, there has been an increase in customers aged 50 and over into employment.
