Crimestoppers issues fly-tipping appeal

The charity Crimestoppers Scotland has launched a new campaign in partnership with Network Rail Scotland following 60,000 incidents of flytipping reports across Scotland.

The charity hopes to "highlight the impact criminal gangs are causing by dumping large-scale waste in communities", and are taking action to minimise such mass dumping.

The news comes after Renfrewshire Council was forced to launch its own fly-tipping taskforce when incidents rocketed across the local authority area.

According to figures published by Zero Waste Scotland, there are over 60,000 incidents of fly tipping reported each year in Scotland, costing over £8.9 million of public money to clear up.
