Northern Irishman clinches it for Burgh in the shoot-out

Kyle Lafferty fired Johnstone Burgh to Junior Cup glory for the first time in 57 years last night.
The former Rangers and Northern Ireland star delivered when it mattered most with the decisive spot-kick in a Broadwood Stadium shoot-out.
Tranent — who had Scott Gray sent-off late-on — opened the scoring in normal time through Harry Girdwood but Ciaran Diver equalised for Burgh to send the final to penalties.
Dean Brett had already missed for Tranent by the time Burgh keeper Luke Scullion saved Euan Bauld’s effort from 12 yards.
Successful strikes from Fraser Mullen, Diver and Ross Davidson set the stage for Lafferty — and he made no mistake.
Burgh fans invaded the pitch as history was made with the famous trophy going back to Keanie Park.
The West of Scotland League Premier Division outfit went with the same side which started the 2-0 semi-final, second-leg win over Largs Thistle that booked their place in the Broadwood showpiece.
