GST reforms to benefit kendu leaf pluckers: CM

Reduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on kendu leaves from 18 per cent to 5 per cent will immensely help the pluckers of Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said Thursday, welcoming the GST reforms.

Briefing media in New Delhi, Majhi highlighted the positive impact of the reforms on various sectors in Odisha.

“Reduction of tax (GST) on kendu leaves from 18 per cent to 5 per cent will lead to an increase in sales through government procurement agencies. This move is expected to benefit those (pluckers) engaged in kendu leaf collection in Odisha, enabling them to receive higher prices from vendors in deregulated areas,” he said.
