Ganja smuggling ruse foiled; two arrested

Acting on a tip-off, police in Subarnapur district arrested two persons Sunday after discovering more than 55 kg cannabis hidden inside a car that was being towed by a recovery crane to evade suspicion.
Authorities said the smugglers attempted to disguise the transport as an emergency vehicle recovery. The car was being towed from the Kantamal area in Boudh district towards Bhubaneswar when it was intercepted at Jhinki on Khurda-Bolangir National Highway 57. Sonepur Inspector-In-Charge Jadav Bag said the raid was conducted following a tip-off received by Superintendent of Police Narayan Nayak.
