WHILE most of us were lucky enough to spend the festive season with family and friends, hundreds of animals have started the new year in rescue centres.

Some animals spend weeks at shelters, but others can spend months or even over a year searching for their forever homes.
The length of an animal's stay can depend on a number of things, such as how long it takes them to settle, if they need any treatment, and time it may take them to recover from incidents or conditions.
Adopting a pet is a big commitment, and RSPCA staff across its branches are committed to ensuring that families and pets are right for each other.
Here are some of the adorable animals at RSPCA sites in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire that have started 2026 in a rescue centre and are in need of a new home.
