Villagers up in arms about controversial new pub signs on their local
Nottingham Post
|September 03, 2025
VILLAGERS are fighting plans for new signs at a historic pub because they fear they will ruin the area's “unique heritage”.
They claim proposals for seven new signs, some illuminated, outside the Horse and Groom in Linby would be out of keeping with the pub's and the conservation area's character.
Linby Parish Council has objected to the application by Star Pubs, and planners at Gedling Borough Council say it may materially affect the character of the conservation area.
Earlier this year, Star Pubs put up a board outside the Grade II-listed property advertising for a manager under its Just Add Talent scheme and announced a revamp, including the installation of televisions showing Sky Sports.
