Veteran's call for action over pigeon-ridden roof

A FRUSTRATED veteran is calling for council action after years of “vile” pigeon problems.

Veterans at Tom Martin House in Stapleford, which provides accommodation for ex-servicemen, claim they have repeatedly asked Broxtowe Borough Council to remove a flock of pigeons from their roof after they nested in the solar panels more than three years ago.

Damien Elliot, 41, told the Post that he asked for the “respect of veterans” to be honoured after the pigeons caused an eyesore and mess at the front of the accommodation.

Damien claims that on 15 occasions since the birds nested, he has cleaned up dead pigeons that have rolled off the roof on to the entrance way of the building.
