GROUP HAD TO LEAVE CITY HOSPITAL DUE TO BUILDING BEING UNSAFE
Ann Vickers, who runs City Hub Ukraine, fears the group may end up with nowhere to go
(JOSEPH RAYNÓR)
VOLUNTEERS sending lorries full of food and aid to soldiers in Ukraine fear they will have nowhere to go after being made to leave their base.
Since 2022, City Hub Ukraine has sent more than 50 lorries full of vital aid parcels to the country from its base at Nottingham City Hospital.
Parcels containing food, medical hygiene products and clothing have been sent to civilians, hospitals and those on the frontline.
Having first set up in an unused ward which was later deemed "unsuitable," the voluntary group was then moved to a space elsewhere in the hospital.
However, due to hospital bosses' concerns around the safety of that building, City Hub Ukraine has now been "abruptly" asked to leave the site altogether, with little notice.
Ann Vickers, who runs the donation drop-off with her husband Stuart, explained she was given the heartbreaking news in a letter on November 27.
"We were originally told in January that the building wasn't safe, so we kept asking for meetings but we were not getting anywhere.
