CAREER CRIMINAL STRUCK AFTER VICTIM WENT INTO HER HOUSE

- By MARTIN NAYLOR

Thief stole car when OAP left it on drive with engine running

A SNEAK thief from Nottingham stole a pensioner’s car from her driveway after she left the engine running while she briefly went back into her home.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how career criminal Lyam Repton then used a bank card from the 83-year-old's purse inside it to withdraw £500.

Weeks later, the 43-year-old, of Bil-borough, was caught driving the same vehicle, having changed the number plates.

And his extensive record shows he has 137 past offences to his name.

Jailing him for four months, Recorder Tim Green KC said: “This was a spate of offending carried out within weeks of your release from your last sentence.

“These offences I accept were committed impulsively, however, I cannot ignore the fact that you have a long record for dishonesty.
