LYNETTE PINCHESS samples an unbeatable offer from street food trader The Meatles at the city centre pub - just don't expect a plate!

Stone the Crow! Fillet steak, chips and a pint – and all for under £20

WHICH restaurant serves the best steak in Nottingham? Some will tell you Soulville Steakhouse, others Miller and Carter, while there’s those who rave about Marco Pierre White's Steakhouse Bar and Grill.

Over in Arnold, Sprinters is a favourite, and New Basford Stadium Leisure is another well-loved spot. My favourite cut is fillet, but - unfortunately for my bank balance - it’s one of the most expensive.

Steak is one of the costliest items to pick when you're eating out. Throw in the glamour of a premier steakhouse and you're looking at as much as £35.95.

Even at a run-of-the-mill chain pub you can expect to pay £24. Obviously Wetherspoons is the exception to the rule, but opinions on the quality offered by the national chain vary. Of course, you can buy a steak from a butcher or supermarket for a fraction of the price and cook it yourself at home, but sometimes it’s nice to be spoilt and let the pros do the cooking.

But we recently heard that street food trader The Meatles had taken over the kitchen at a Nottingham city centre pub.
