Rising cost of sending kids to state schools

Nottingham Post

PARENTS are paying hundreds of pounds more a year just to send their child to a state school, a report has found.

Rising cost of sending kids to state schools

The cost in the UK has “significantly increased” since 2022, outstripping both inflation and earnings growth during this period, the research has suggested.

The minimum outlay for sending a child to secondary school is now around £2,275 a year - and the cost for primary school exceeds £1,000 a year.

That is according to a report from charity Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) and the Centre for Research in Social Policy (CRSP).

In 2022, when similar research was carried out by the charity, the annual cost for sending a child to secondary school was calculated to be around £1,755 and nearly £865 for a primary school child.
