Pub's warm welcome for guests of canine variety

A NOTTINGHAM pub has been crowned most dog-friendly in the UK. The Lion at Basford has welcomed different breeds through the doors, from the smallest toy pooches to the biggest canines.

Votes by fans of the pub, in Mosley Street, helped to put it in number one spot for boozers in the Dog Friendly Awards 2025, which also had categories including shops, cafes, holiday parks, cottages and vets.

Landlady Ella Wolfenden said: “I have got a Doberman, who spends a lot of the time in the pub. We've got labradors, there's Rhodesian Ridgebacks, there's pugs, collies, pretty much every variety of dog comes into the venue.
