CONTROVERSIAL PROPOSALS FOR FARM SITE RESURFACED AGAIN EARLIER IN THE YEAR
DEVELOPERS behind a controversial bid for a 3,000-home estate have been criticised over a planned meeting that excludes furious neighbours.
Bloor Homes and Peveril Homes launched a fresh bid to build thousands of homes on greenbelt land off Whyburn Lane in Hucknall earlier this year, sparking outrage.
The housebuilders' hopes that the 200-hectare space would be allocated for housing by Ashfield District Council were dashed after a years-long campaign by the town's residents, but in late March the developers started preparing formal plans for the project anyway.
This prompted renewed fury from those who would neighbour the huge development, who are now being shut out of a planned meeting by Bloor & Peveril, according to the area's MP.
Michelle Welsh, MP for Sherwood Forest, said she had eventually been invited to the roundtable meeting on the development after sharing her disappointment at being left out, but would refuse to go unless residents could attend.
