DEMOLITION ABOUT TO BEGIN ON CURRENT SCHOOL AS DEAL DONE

- By OLIVER PRIDMORE

A "MILESTONE deal" means work can finally begin on a major development in Bramcote to create nearly 500 homes and 1,000 school places.

An existing school will be demolished to make way for a brand new one, paid for by the sale of nearby land to housing developers.

Discussions have been ongoing for years about the Bramcote College rebuild and it was confirmed on Thursday that a deal had finally been signed for Miller Homes to buy the housing land.

Avant Homes had originally been behind the housing plans, but Miller Homes says it is now "proud" to have been chosen to lead the project.

Demolition work is about to start as part of the first phase of the Bramcote College redevelopment.

The demolition will initially focus on the PE block and, once rebuilt, this will be the first part handed over by contractor Morgan Sindall to White Hills Park Trust, which operates Bramcote College.

The site includes a secondary school and sixth form and once the whole rebuild is complete by September 2027, it will comprise 750 secondary places and 200 sixth form places.
