A MAN set fire to his partner's dog before strangling her repeatedly in a "sinister" drunken attack.

Paul Williamson, 53, was in a drunken rage on January 5 when he committed the string of offences. Williamson, of Coopers Rise, Rainworth, woke up on a sofa and smashed his partner's phone after making accusations. He then poured white spirit on a carpet and set a small patch on fire, threatening to "burn the house down".
