Major expansion plan lodged for city school

BID TO BUILD SPORTS HALL AT 'OVERSUBSCRIBED' ACADEMY

A NOTTINGHAM secondary school could get a sports hall and 12 extra classrooms, resulting in 300 more pupils.

Bluecoat Wollaton Academy, part of Archway Learning Trust, currently has 774 pupils on roll, with a capacity of 750.

A planning application has now been submitted to the city council for the expansion of the school, in Sutton Passeys Crescent.

A three-court sports hall with PE storage, changing facilities and toilets would be built if the proposals get the green light.

This is in addition to 12 more classrooms in the same building.

The development would facilitate the school's expansion by 300 pupils, according to the application.

The construction work would be carried out on an existing car park.
