Magpies in a good spot, but need to be 'diligent' - boss

MARTIN Paterson feels Notts County are in a good place psychologically as they prepare to face Crewe Alexandra this weekend.

The Magpies have won four of their last six league outings, losing just once in that time, and come into this early Saturday kickoff (12.30pm) on the back of their most convincing victory of the campaign.

A 4-0 triumph at Meadow Lane against Crawley Town last weekend demonstrated what Notts can do when they unlock their ruthless edge, which they are looking to consistently find now.

They have had a near-opposite form book to their next opponents, Crewe, who started the season red-hot but have slowed down significantly, with four defeats in their last five league games.

Despite that poor league run, they beat Chesterfield 7-1 in the EFL Trophy, showing they had not completely lost their edge, which Paterson is aware of.
