MAN IN COURT OVER STREET MELEE
AN ARGUMENT between two women which began on social media led to men brandishing bats and an axe in a Nottingham street.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how police were called to the disturbance in Bakersfield and recovered a baseball bat and knife from a car driven to the scene by Ashley Hands.
Despite another man producing a hatchet, the 27-year-old defendant, of Derby, has been the only person from the episode to face any charges. Now he has a criminal record and has lost his job due to his involvement.
Handing him a 12-month community order, Judge Stuart Rafferty KC said: "What an idiot. There's loyalty and there is misguided loyalty and let this be a lesson to all men that when women start falling out it is no place for any man to be. You went along to support members of your family over a stupid argument that should not have gone anywhere.
