Five for Dillon as Notts get job done in time
Nottingham Post
|May 27, 2025
DILLON Pennington grabbed a fivewicket haul as Nottinghamshire completed victory over Yorkshire before tea on day four at Headingley.
A fourth win in seven matches strengthens Notts' position at the top of Rothesay County Championship Division One and only the weather was likely to save the home side after they had been thoroughly outplayed.
They hung around for three balls over 120 overs in their second innings, though, and Pennington said: "We talk about just doing whatever you need to do for the team to get the win and myself, Mo (Abbas) and Brett (Hutton), we all bowled a lot of overs there.
"But you get your rewards in the end.
"It was a bit of a tough start to the year for me but I felt good in this game. I leaked a few runs but my rhythm was good."
He had a particular word for wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne, who took six catches in the innings and nine in the match.
"Kyle was outstanding all game," said Pennington.
"He got a hard wicket to keep, with balls going up and down. He did really well.
"We tried to put the weather out of our minds and just try to put the ball in the right areas as long as we could.
