FORMER EVERTON, BURNLEY BOSS MAY REPLACE ANGE

- By SARAH CLAPSON sarah.clapson@reachplc.com @Sarah_Clapson

SEAN Dyche didn’t make it at Nottingham Forest as a player but might he soon get the opportunity to do so as a manager?

The 54-year-old is said to be a contender to take charge at the City Ground, if the Reds decide to part ways with Ange Postecoglou. The latter is under pressure little more than a month into the job after failing to register a win from his first seven games at the helm.

Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in the job on September 9 but it remains to be seen how much longer he will retain the faith of owner Evangelos Marinakis.

If Marinakis does decide to wield the axe, Dyche is said to be a strong candidate to step in.

The former Everton and Burnley boss has been out of work since January. If he does get the nod to pick up the Forest reins, it will be almost a case of coming full circle for the former defender.

Dyche was a youth player with the Reds in the late 1980s, when Brian Clough was manager. A serious injury held him back and he didn’t make a senior appearance in the Garibaldi but he has retained a lot of affection for his time at the club.

“In the end, I really enjoyed my time at Forest,” Dyche told The Rest Is Football podcast earlier this year.
