TEMPORARY BUILDING WILL GO UP FOLLOWING DISCOVERY OF 'STRUCTURAL ISSUES'
AN unsafe school building has been permanently closed as council bosses scramble to secure funding for an urgently needed replacement.
Following the discovery of structural issues at St Peter's C of E Junior School in Ruddington, Nottinghamshire County Council has permanently shut its main building.
The county council said yesterday that it had commissioned urgent work to build a new temporary “learning village” next to the building which will accommodate all 350 pupils while money for a replacement is sourced.
Wayne Bexton, director of economy, environment and assets at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “Following detailed investigations and after seeking expert advice, we have no other choice but to permanently close the main building.
