A POPULAR cafe has closed because the owner is taking semi-retirement after three bouts of major surgery.

Closure – not failure – as dream-come-true cafe closes

It was a dream come true for Sara Burton when she opened 1 Market Place Tea Rooms, in Arnold, just over two years ago.

The former school chef, who worked alongside her family, turned part of the £4 million AMP building into a bustling spot with her homemade cakes and cheese on toast.

The tea rooms closed at the weekend, a decision made with a “very heavy heart” after many tears and family meetings.

In an emotional Facebook post Sara said: “As most of you know I have been struggling with my health, having three major surgeries in three years and I'm sorry to say it has taken its toll on me, both mentally and physically.
