Chocs away for a better deal for lovers of sweet treats

I LIKE to think I’m pretty high up the league of nerdy nit-pick-ers with too much time on their hands but, just occasionally, I am in awe at a fellow exponent.

Hats off then to Man Behaving Dadly, the pen-name of an Essex dad-of-four I've never met but whose work I've come to admire on Facebook.

He clearly likes to tackle some of life’s great questions, such as: are there too many mini-Bounty chocolates in a tub of Celebrations?

Fed up of people complaining they were being “forced” to eat coconut nibbles at the expense of more popular varieties, he set out to establish the truth, step one being to buy a tub, count what's inside and calculate their percentages.

He found that a standard 550g tub contained 50 miniatures, comprising 10 Snickers and 10 Milky Way (approximately 16.9% each) nine Mars (15.2%) seven Maltesers (11.8%), six each of Twix, Galaxy and Bounty (10.1%) and five Galaxy Caramel (8.4%).

Then, he asked his Facebook followers to list their favourites.

More than 2,000 responded.
