Banners could go back up ahead of road improvements

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE County Council is being told to get banners that cost taxpayers £3,000 out of storage and put them back up alongside recently installed Union flags.

The previous Conservative administration was accused of "wasting taxpayers' money" by spending £3,145 on installing 17 banners advertising a major Nottinghamshire road project before the funding had been approved.

Those banners were then taken down after less than a year due to weather damage, and they have remained "gathering dust" in storage ever since.

The project, which involves delivering roundabout and junction upgrades along the A614/A6097 corridor in north Nottinghamshire, has now been formally approved, and initial work is expected to begin in early 2026, with the project's completion anticipated in 2028.
