Animal organs discovered in bag in field

THE "gruesome" discovery of a bag of suspected animal organs in a field has left residents confused and unsettled.

A black bin bag was found with guts spilling out of it on fenced-off land off Sherwood Avenue in Mansfield in February.

At least half a dozen cats belonging to residents on Bellamy Estate had previously been found dead in and around the field, which is being developed for housing, prompting fears over the potential use of chemicals. However, a council investigation has found no evidence to support that theory.

Another cat's remains were found with the organs, apparently those of a much larger animal.
