A large police response was sent to the Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology (NUAST) school in Abbey Street, Dunkirk, just after 1.30pm on Thursday following the incident.

Nottinghamshire Police said that a 15-year-old boy was stabbed and taken to Queen's Medical Centre with serious injuries. Another teenager, also aged 15, was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident.

In an email sent to parents at 3pm on Thursday, head teacher Dave Thompson said the school would be “open tomorrow as normal” following the incident.

However, in an update shared later that evening, Mr Thompson confirmed it would remain closed due to the police investigation.
