Mayor pledges to champion town for second year

THE Barnstaple community came together for this year’s mayoral ceremony at the historic pannier market.

Barnstaple proudly welcomed Cllr Janet Coates as its mayor for a second consecutive year during the ceremony held on May 22. Cllr Loki Dawson was appointed as deputy mayor.
The event was attended by local organisations and charities, visiting mayors and guests including the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Cllr Kathy Watkin, and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Devon, the Honourable Mark Parkhouse.
As part of the proceedings, Cllr Coates signed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office and took the Oath of Allegiance, reaffirming her dedication to the town.
