Top military-level meeting after Saturday's understanding; India's retaliation was precise, calibrated: DGMO
Top military officials of India and Pakistan will meet on Monday over their just-ended conflict, India's director-general of military operations (DGMO) Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai said, as a fragile pause prevails following days of escalation.
Officials said the country chose to strike Pakistan where it hurts most, referring to the confrontation that ended in a mutual understanding on Saturday. In a special briefing on Sunday, they said India's armed forces struck Pakistani air bases across the western front.
"Pakistan left us with no choice but to retaliate and our retaliation was precise, calibrated," air marshal A.K. Bharti said. He said the operation killed over 100 terrorists including high-value targets such as Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf and Mudasir Ahmed.
