Novo bets on Emcure in obesity-drug war

Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk on Monday announced an exclusive partnership with Punebased Emcure Pharmaceuticals to distribute its weightloss therapy semaglutide, as competition in India's fastgrowing anti-obesity drug market heats up.
US drug giant Eli Lilly had announced a similar tie-up last month with Mumbai-headquartered Cipla for its antiobesity drug Tirzepatide.
Novo and Emcure will launch semaglutide under a new brand name, Poviztra, as a 2.4mg weekly injection, they said in a statement. The companies did not yet reveal the pricing plan and launch date, but said they would be "very competitive" in pricing.
