Despite the crush of gin brands in India, there's space for more, particularly niche offerings

- Prachi Joshi

The newest Indian craft gin recalls the smell of the forest through its earthy and woody notes. "Vanaha is inspired by the biodiversity of Indian forests; the name is a combination of vana or forest and 'aha' for epiphany," says Vaniitha Jain, who founded Revelry Distillery in 2023 along with her husband Navvin Jain.

The distillery's debut product Vanaha is a 100% natural gin packed with 24 botanicals, including deodar wood, shade-dried patchouli, tirphal or teppal pepper, lemons, mandarins, palash flowers, maulsari (bakul) flowers, sun-dried mulberries, cacao nibs, pine tips, cassia bark and juniper berries. Even the custom-made bottle in shades of deep-green with a woodpecker logo channels the forest.
