PM Modi launches and lays foundation for fisheries projects worth over ₹693 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched and laid the foundation for 16 fisheries projects worth over Rs 693 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and the Fisheries Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF).

The initiatives include foundation stones for seven new projects worth Rs 572 crore and the inauguration of nine completed ones worth Rs 121 crore across India.
Aimed at strengthening infrastructure, creating employment, boosting exports, and promoting sustainable growth, the projects are expected to give a major fillip to India's Blue Economy.
Among the key projects is a Rs 170-crore Trout Fisheries project in Uttarakhand, which will enhance trout production and generate local jobs.
